Mobile accounting used to seem like a contradiction in terms, but with the new agile functionality of QuickBooks, software giant Intuit, Inc. has made keeping a company’s books in order a task that can be accomplished anywhere at anytime.
“It’s absolutely inspiring and transformational,” Intuit’s VP of Small Business Karen Peacock told Jeff Frick, cohost of theCUBE, from theSiliconANGLE Media team, during the recent QuickBooks Connect event in San Francisco.
“People used to say, ‘No way I’ll ever do my accounting from my mobile phone,’” continued Peacock, but with QuickBooks accessible from virtually anywhere, customers are now collaborating and making updates while on the road.
Peacock gives the usage example of a customer who is driving to client meeting and wonders, “Did they pay me for the last invoice?”
The customer can check on their phone, see the amount outstanding, and accept a payment from the client during the meeting. The payment function also enables immediate sales, and even payroll can now be run from a mobile device.
QuickBooks has always focused on helping small businesses succeed and being open to customer feedback. Now this is taken to a whole other level, with the company constantly evaluationing and figuring out how to make the program better “based on what people are actually doing,” said Peacock.
