7 cool tech gift ideas for dog lovers | #Holiday2015
Want to give someone who is absolutely mad about their dog the perfect holiday gift this year but not really sure what to get them? Fret not! This year, just like last year, we’ve compiled some of the coolest gadgets for dog lovers and their dogs.
Tractive
Tractive GmbH is a company that specializes in pet wearables and offers three products: Tractive GPS, Tractive Motion, and Pet-Remote. The Tractive GPS delivers real-time tracking of pets to your smartphone. The device works well for those who have pets that are often running out of the house and could potentially get lost.
The Tractive Motion is an activity tracker so you can monitor a pet’s level of activity, and even set goals to help them become more active.
The Pet-Remote can be used to train dogs to sit, roll over and fetch, etc. The device delivers signals, such as vibrations or sounds, to nudge pets to do tricks.
Tractive GPS is regularly priced at $249.99 but is now on sale for $129.99. Tractive Motion is priced at $109.99 but is on sale for $99.99. As for the Pet-Remote, it’s priced at $39.99.
PetChatz
While away from home, pet owners can use PetChatz, to check in. The device features a built-in camera and screen that allows users to initiate a two-way video call with their pet when they are away so they don’t misbehave and chew up the house.
Users can also purchase treats and scents that can be put inside PetChatz and dispensed when needed. The treat can be given when a pet has been behaving really well. Or, when they are anxious or stressed out, a drop of a scent can calm them down.
A companion product called PawCall is also available for purchase. The device enables pets to actually call their owners when the device is pressed using their paw. PetChatz bundled with PawCall is priced at $479.98.
Foobler
Most pet owners have experienced their dogs chewing up shoes, furniture and just about anything else in their path. It is frustrating, but thanks to Foobler, that can be easily dealt with. Foobler is a ball that holds treats or kibble and releases it only when the time is up. It has six compartments, a bell and an internal timer.
A dog will be able to smell the treat inside, and as a result play with Foobler. When the timer goes off, the treat or kibble is released, and a dog can go back to playing after enjoying his treat. This busies the dog, allowing pets to entertain themselves when necessary.
Foobler is available for $27.99 on Amazon.com.
WonderBowl
For those with multiple pets, feeding time can turn into madness, as some dogs eat off any bowls if there’s more than one, leaving the others with nothing to eat. The WonderBowl Selective Feeder helps pet owners manage feeding time, as the bowl comes with a cover that only opens up when a pet wearing a specific tag comes close to eat.
The WonderBowl Selective Feeder is available on Amazon.com for $41.98.
Dogit Design Fresh and Clear Dog Drinking Fountain
Getting pets to drink more water can be frustrating, and cleaning water bowls can get icky and slimy. For dog owners, or pet owners in general, who don’t want to constantly deal with a dirty water bowl, the Dogit Design Fresh and Clear Dog Drinking Fountain is a great option.
The device holds up to 200 ounces, or almost six liters, of water that is circulated and aerated to maintain a fresh and crisp taste that encourages dogs, and even cats, to drink more.
It also has a filtration system that ensures water is always safe to drink, plus it is easy to clean compared to other pet drinking fountains. The device is available on Amazon.com for $19.93.
Petcube
This device features a 138-degree, wide-angle camera that is capable of streaming HD 720p video right to a mobile device. it also connects to a home’s Wi-Fi network, allowing pet owners to easily check up on their pet when away from home.
Petcube also features two-way audio streaming thanks to the built-in speaker and microphone, comes with a non-slip bottom and features a built-in pet-safe 5mW 3R-class laser, allowing pet owners to play with their pets even while away. An iOS or Android smartphone, or even Apple Watch, can be used to see what pets are up to.
Petcube is now available at a discounted price of $129.
Petnet
This automatic feeder connects a home’s Wi-Fi network to allow the user to control food delivery to pets via a smartphone. The app can be used to give food on demand or on a set schedule. The app also delivers recommendations regarding recipes that suit specific dogs and ensures that each feeding is delivered in precise portions.
Thanks to Amazon.com’s Dash Replenishing Service, Petnet is able to monitor the user’s pet’s food supply and automatically orders and delivers the next batch even before it runs out. Petnet is available for $149 on Amazon.com.
