Apple Music coming to Sonos speakers near you, starting Dec. 15th

It will now be possible to enjoy Apple Music throughout your entire home with the announcement that Sonos will be launching support for Apple Music. In a couple of weeks, starting December 15, Apple Music will be available on Sonos speakers in a beta version.

Currently, if Apple Music users want to listen to their tracks through their Sonos wireless speakers they have to connect their smartphone or tablet to the speaker with an aux cable. By mid-December Apple Music users will have access to the beta version of Apple Music on Sonos and have the ability to access their Apple Music library as well as the “For You,” “New,” and “Radio” features. If you have a family account, then you can add up to six members to the Sonos experience, so everyone in the house can enjoy their chosen tracks.

Apple Music is not the first music streaming service offered on the Sonos systems. It will join the likes of Pandora, Spotify and Google Play. Beats Music was also compatible with the Sonos system, prior to Apple phasing it out in favor of Apple Music. In a few weeks, you will be able to control your Apple Music playlist through the Sonos app for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC and Android phones.

“Streaming is bringing more music into everyone’s lives—and that’s a better life. The introduction of Apple Music marks an inflection point for streaming and its mass adoption,” said Sonos co-founder and Chief Executive Officer John MacFarlane.

Apple Music has been popular amongst its users with Tim Cook announcing last month that they have 6.5 million paying customers. An additional 8.5 million users are currently participating in the three-month free trial of Apple Music. At the beginning of November, Apple also expanded the Apple Music service when they announced the beta version of Apple Music for Android users.

The beta version of Apple Music on Sonos will be available on December 15, but you can sign up now on the Sonos website. If you would prefer to wait for the final version, you will have to hang tight until early 2016.
