Motorola Mobility Holdings, Inc. unveiled its new Moto 360 range of Android Wear-powered smartwatches at the beginning of September. The range included two variants of the next-gen Moto 360 – one for men and a smaller version for women – as well as a new Moto 360 Sport aimed at active users.

Unlike its companions, the Moto 360 Sport did not go on sale immediately following the unveiling and Motorola gave us nothing by way of an expected release date or retail price.

Now, finally, Motorola has announced the official release date and price for the Moto 360 Sport.

The U.K. and France will get the Moto 360 Sport first, with online orders via the company’s online store kicking off December 18^th. Unfortunately U.S. customers won’t find a Moto 360 Sport under the tree on Christmas morning – online orders via Motorola and other online retailers in the States only start on January 7^th, 2016, while Best Buy and the Moto Shop in downtown Chicago will start selling the Moto 360 Sport in-store three days later on January 10^th. Other countries that will get the Moto 360 Sport in the New Year include Brazil, Mexico, Canada, China and Spain.

Moto 360 Sport features

The Moto 360 Sport is IP67-rated, making it completely dustproof and water-resistant up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes at a time. The entire watch is made from durable silicone and designed with side vents to keep your wrist ventilated, ideal for use in sweaty conditions. Motorola claims the silicone also won’t stain or fade from prolonged exposure to the sun.

As the Moto 360 Sport is designed for outdoor usage, the round 1.37-inch LCD AnyLight display will remain viewable in both dim indoor light and harsh sunlight outdoors.

As for sensors, the Moto 360 Sport has a plethora for tracking just about anything during your workout without the need for a paired smartphone, including a heart-rate monitor, a GPS to map your run or ride with apps like MapMyRun, Under Armour Record, Strava, Google Fit and Fitbit, a barometric altimeter, accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor and vibration engine for alerts and feedback.

If you are interested in the technical specifications, the Moto 360 Sport has a 1.37-inch, 263ppi (360 x 325) AnyLight display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a 45mm diameter case that is 11.5 mm thick and weighs 54g.

Power is supplied by a 300mAh battery with wireless charging support and under the hood is a Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz quad-core processor with Adreno 305 Graphics and 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
