Are HPE and Docker the dream team for DevOps? | #HPEDiscover

Hewlett Packard Enterprise C0. (HPE) is touting its new composable infrastructure offering as the choice for companies desiring tailored solutions. Docker, a platform that allows users to build, ship and run applications, is one of HPE’s main attractions, according to Manoj Nair, VP of product management for Converged Datacenter Infrastructure at HPE.

“Docker was a founding member of the composable ecosystem,” Nair told John Furrier and Dave Vellante, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during HPE Discover 2015 in London.

Roger Egan, SVP of sales at Docker, Inc., also joined in on the interview. He remarked that HPE’s use of Docker in its own operations helps the company affirm Docker’s value to customers. “I think that gives you unique credibility with customers when you walk in to say, ‘We not only are selling you the product, we’re using it ourselves to get operational efficiency for our developers and our DevOps processor internally.'”

Striving for friction-free DevOps

Nair spoke about customers’ increasing demand for agility and frictionless development tools. He said that HPE wants to deliver cloud-like speed and agility in the development area, and Docker is leading the way with systems that cut out friction between development and DevOps.

Egan added that Docker’s new hosting platform further simplifies application deployment for customers. “Now with Tutum [Docker’s platform for Dev and Ops], we give them the ability to manage and deploy those anywhere they want with a plan that they can choose.”
