Warner Bros cancels the Linux and Mac ports of Arkham Knight to the surprise of no one

With Batman: Arkham Knight still barely functional on PC, publisher Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment has announced that it is cancelling development of Linux and Mac ports of the game.

Warner Bros released a rather terse statement on Steam announcing the cancellation of the ports.

“We are very sorry to confirm that Batman: Arkham Knight will no longer be coming to Mac and Linux,” a Warner Bros spokesperson wrote in an update on the Steam Store. “If you have pre-ordered Batman: Arkham Knight for Mac or Linux, please apply for a refund via Steam.”

While the news should not be particularly surprising to anyone given the abysmal quality of the PC port of Arkham Knight, fans are still upset at the cancellation, and many have said that this only proves that Warner Bros does not care about non-console using consumers.

Warner Bros did not offer any explanation for exactly why it decided to cancel the ports, but since it has essentially given up on additional fixes for the still-broken PC port, it is likely that the publisher did not feel that it was worth the development money to create other non-functioning ports for even smaller platforms.

The very first comment in the thread announcing the cancellation sums up many PC gamers’ opinion of the whole ordeal:

“Oh well.”
