MapR Technologies, Inc. is hoping to bring the power of Hadoop and Spark to the communications service provider market. The company is teaming up with Ericsson to develop offerings that leverage MapR’s Converged Data Platform to deliver more efficient, real-time data processing and analysis capabilities to the industry.
The two companies aren’t announcing any products just yet, but the aim of the game is to combine their technologies to “drive innovation for digital industrialization” by leveraging MapR’s solutions to enable “mission-critical application deployments at scale” and deliver enhanced customer value.
Peter Hartlev, head of PL data and storage, cloud, at Ericsson, unsurprisingly heaped spoonfuls of praise on MapR for its “leadership in powering innovative data applications for some of the world’s largest organizations”. He added that MapR’s Converged Data Platform, which brings together Hadoop and Spark with global event streaming, real-time, NoSQL database capabilities, and enterprise storage, is unique in its ability to deliver all-important enterprise-grade features such as high-performance, reliability, scale and security atop of the most popular open-source projects.
“Our combined technologies will bring tremendous value leveraging big data to support the broadest efforts on digital transformation in the communication service provider market,” said Patrik Svanström, vice president, EMEA, MapR. “They will enable our joint customers to quickly realize significant ROI and improve operational efficiencies in real-time from their data.”
MapR is present at Ericsson’s booth at this week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, where it’s showing off some of the innovations the partnership hopes to realize.
