Talk to the hand: How to turn off annoying Facebook Live video notifications
Since rolling out Facebook Live to all iOS users in January and subsequently to Android users in March, live video streaming has proven incredibly popular among Facebook users.
To ensure you never miss out when a friend or Page you follow is live streaming, Facebook will keep you updated with notifications. This is great for all the Facebook Live lovers out there, but for those of you who are not too enamored with Facebook’s latest feature, this will tend to be very annoying.
A spokesperson told Engadget last week that the company is working on a solution that will allow users to control the notifications. “We are starting to roll out a new setting that lets people turn off all live notifications, through their Notifications settings, that will be available to all people soon.”
However, until this update happens there is a workaround that will allow you to switch off notifications from the friends or Pages who are live streaming the most.
When you receive a Facebook Live notification > click the upside-down arrow in the top right-hand corner > in the pop-up select ‘turn off live video notifications’.
Alternatively, just how you clicked the ‘Live Subscribe’ button at the top of a video to receive notifications when the person live streamed again, you can click the same button to turn off the notifications for this specific person or Page.
Unfortunately, this is not a solution that will work across all your Facebook Live notifications, and you will have to do it for each notification that you receive.
