A fast-moving market demands partnerships | #HPEDiscover

No company is an island. No business has the necessary experience, people, talent and infrastructure to do everything. Partnerships are vital to producing market-leading products in the modern age. Partnerships also have a second benefit: speed. In today’s fast-moving market, relying on a partner’s established markets and connections can be the only way to stay relevant.

To shed some light on how enterprise business is dealing with partnerships, John Furrier (@furrier) and Dave Vellante (@dvellante), cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, visited the HPE Discover 2016 conference in Las Vegas. There, they met with Don Jones, VP of ISV Alliances at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. (HPE) and Duncan Campbell, senior director of Alliance Marketing at HPE.

Discovering the value of partners

The discussion started with a quick overview of the market. “It’s important to understand just how fast the market is moving now,” Campbell said. He explained that one has to look at the market from an industry and innovation standpoint. It’s across the board, how HP is bringing its resources to bear to stay in front.

Partners are a necessary part of staying in front. Big alliance partners will be important to HP in the foreseeable future, Jones said. There’s also an incubation angle for new partners, he continued. Campbell agreed, saying, it goes to show how they believe the ecosystem is now key. The ecosystem is the advisory service, the innovation industry, and the channel to market, he said.

Development and force multipliers

Jones spoke about the development space, saying it’s ripe for the picking and growing throughout the whole portfolio. Campbell added that what one has to do to help the development side is to speed things up and also get to market.

Jones mentioned how they were doing this, saying they’re putting the customers at true north. When the company starts to triangulate off that, they can do some interesting stuff, he said. Campbell expanded the thought, saying it’s not thinking about things in the old way. It’s accelerating things and doing better.

“When we look at what we can do with our partners now that we couldn’t before, it’s pretty astounding,” Jones said.
