AWS leading the digital transformation: Analyst Insights | #AWSSummit

Amazon has been around for more than 20 years but has recently exploded in the digital market. With the launch of Amazon Web Services (AWS) a little over 10 years ago, its reach has extended far into the realm of data storage and more.

The AWS Summit in Santa Clara, CA, is a testament to not only the growth of the company, but also the extent of its commitment to making data more accessible. Providing insights during the event were John Furrier (@furrier), Lisa Martin (@Luccazara) and Jeff Frick (@JeffFrick), hosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team. The trio provided event insights live from the AWS Summit 2016.

Clear the room

Amazon has made a name for itself with innovation and disruption. It has created an ecosystem of learning and even inspires its customers to provide input. In a way, “Amazon is unstoppable,” said Furrier. Its business trajectory is set to move further up and that strategy and leans on the use of open-source platforms. By embracing the push to open source, AWS has put itself in a prime position for project ideation.

The cadence at which AWS releases its products is unrivaled, and its scale is just as impressive. In a time when enterprises are laying off some parts of their team, AWS is excelling.

Looking ahead

In terms of the digital transformation, AWS is staying ahead of the game. It has embraced the cloud hybridization and put it at the center of its infrastructure. Unlike other companies that have to make a shift in culture, as well as software, AWS has kept an open culture regarding technological advances, according to theCUBE analysts.

Not only does AWS offer a variety of products and assets to its customers, but its also partners with other organizations where there is a need, like in data science. By establishing these partnerships, AWS is pushed to improve upon its weakness, as well as inspire its partnering business to do the same. This constant desire to improve only bodes to help two important business factors, “scale and economics,” said Furrier.

Growth. Innovation. Transformation. AWS brings these and more to its business model and partnerships. It has gone from easy-to-use retailer to one of the largest stakeholders in the digital world. As technology continues to grow and shift toward the Internet of Things, AWS will continue to provide the best access to data, theCUBE team concluded.
