Analysts weigh in on how Amazon will address cultural shift in the enterprise | #AWSSummit

Without a doubt, Amazon’s business has been on an unsurprising upward trend. “They’re heads and tails above their competitors. Not only in revenue, but also year over year in growth,” said Jeff Frick (@JeffFrick), cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team. Frick and cohost Lisa Martin (@Luccazara) were live from AWS Summit – Santa Clara to discuss what AWS’ market position means for the public vs. private cloud debate, the company’s stance on the hybrid cloud, and how it is dealing with companies reportedly leaving and going with rivals’ private cloud offerings.

The analysts discussed AWS continuing to make moves to expand its business even further, including its work with Salesforce.com, Inc., which recently selected AWS as its preferred public cloud infrastructure provider. AWS is also driving price reduction and addressing issues customers experience at a rapid pace, even implying at last week’s AWS Summit in London that competitors aren’t taking care of their customers properly.

Cultural shift in enterprises

But there is a cultural shift going on as far as how enterprises make decisions about the cloud and other services.

“Amazon always been positioned for the stack developer in terms target audience in terms of hybrid IT. We’ve seen a shift in decision-making from out of IT into the hands of the C-Suite,” said Martin. As Amazon changes its products, services and marketing to match this cultural shift, it will be interesting to see the developments going forward.
