IBM expands enterprise mobility management to more regions

IBM today announced the delivery expansion of its mobile security-as-a-service platform via the IBM Cloud.

The company will offer its enterprise mobility management platform, MaaS360 in France and India, and will be expanding further to eight additional countries over the next two years.

IBM MaaS360 provides organizations with the necessary security to manage and secure its mobile devices, apps and content, ensuring data security and personal privacy. MaaS360 is currently operating in the U.S., Germany and Singapore and is already deployed on over five million devices covering over 10,000 clients.

According to the IDC Enterprise Mobility Survey released in July, 57 percent of organizations report experiencing security and compliance issues with their mobile deployments. IBM thus saw an opportunity to expand its MaaS360 mobile management technology to other countries.

“With today’s expansion of our mobile security and management capabilities within the IBM Cloud, we’ve built a formidable platform for global clients to embrace mobile locally and globally,” said Jim Brennan, director of strategy and offering management, endpoint management and security at IBM Security.

Handling of mobile data can be made more complex due to the differing requirements for each country and region. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) adopted by the European Union (E.U.) will unify data protection within the E.U. and govern data export across boundaries. The legislation is set to come into effect as of May 2018.

IBM will be offering IBM Privacy Consulting Services around GDPR, which will evaluate and compare an organization’s data privacy environment against the upcoming regulations. The company will also provide a GDPR readiness assessment via its Privacy Consulting Services.

In addition to the expansion of MaaS360, IBM is also offering new services to assist organizations in building mobility programs. Services offered include Mobile Security and Productivity Workshops, Mobility Success Services, Health Check Services and Mobility Training Workshops.

Thanks to a new integration with IBM Cloud Security Enforcer, enterprises will now be able to monitor the use of non-approved corporate apps across employees’ devices. There are also additional security checks that are conducted on the safety of the apps being used by employees.

MaaS360 is also now available in four new tiers to ensure alignment with customers different mobile security program needs. The tiers range from an entry-level mobile management solution to an enterprise offering, allowing for advanced analysis and threat management and the ability to add thousands of users.
