Siemplify raises $10M to improve corporate security coordination
Cybersecurity professionals usually divide their attention between several different tools, but according to Siemplify Inc., that doesn’t have to mean they should be constantly switching between tabs and shuffling data around.
The New York-based startup is pursuing a centralized approach to breach prevention that has attracted a $10 million investment from 83North, G20 Ventures and several of its existing backers. Siemplify will use the funds to spread the word about its ThreatNexus platform, which is designed to serve as a sort of digital war room for coordinating an organization’s network protection operations.
The company says its software covers every major aspect of a security professional’s work starting with the task of identifying potential risks. Users can employ the built-in data integration features to combine their companies’ internal system logs with data from external hacker activity feeds and create a complete picture of their infrastructure.
ThreatNexus’ complementary diagnostics console, which is based on “highly contextualized graph technology,” then makes it possible to analyze the information for anomalies. Siemplify says that the dashboard is useful both for proactively uncovering vulnerabilities and investigating breaches after the fact.
Once users find a security hole, they have several options for moving forward. They can use a third-party enforcement tool to plug the hole or, if the breach presents a previously unknown risk, create an automated workflow in ThreatNexus to preempt future infections. The platform provides the ability to configure how a company’s main security information and event management suite should react to different threats through a drag-and-drop interface. It supports Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s ArcSight, the QRadar system from IBM Corp. and most of the other major alternatives out there.
Siemplify claims to have racked up several “strategic wins among the Fortune 500” over recent months, which likely means that ThreatNexus is already being actively used in production.
