Cloud28+: accelerating enterprise cloud adoption | #HPEDiscover

While some sectors of the tech world are encountering notable difficulties in the realm of international commerce and data management, those focusing on enabling commerce and networking businesses are seeing the future as a bright one.

At the HPE Discover EU event in London, Xavier Poisson Gouyou Beauchamps, VP of worldwide indirect digital services at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co.; Aleksi Partanen, senior VP of digital services at ALSO Holding AG; and Amin Ayoub, head of cloud services at Injazat Data Systems, met with Dave Vellante (@dvellante), co-host of theCUBE*, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, to discuss the details of the Cloud28+ association, which is an open community of cloud service providers, cloud resellers, ISVs, systems integrators and government entities dedicated to accelerating enterprise cloud adoption.

Collaborative collective

As the conversation began, Cloud28+ was described by Beauchamps as a service catalog offering a “community of partners who would strengthen the ability of the customers to move to cloud computing” by means of “consolidating the cloud services into one platform that would be shared between service providers, software vendors [and] resellers.”

Partanen emphasized the “pick and choose” nature of options available through the Cloud28+ catalog, noting, “We are in an indirect business, so our customers are channel partners, who then again deliver solutions to their end customers.” As such, Cloud28+ offers a wide selection of services and service providers “that is helping us to grow our ecosystem further,” he added.

Beauchamps shared that after one year of Cloud28+ operations, it had provided more than 1,000 cloud services to its customers, with capabilities from almost 150 data centers, the majority of those located in Europe.

Results and value

“We are serving a base of more than 100,000 channel partners,” Partanen stated, commenting that as many of those partners had pre-existing alliances with HPE, “the Cloud28+ ecosystem of different service providers, individual service providers around the world” was serving as an enhancement to HPE’s usual offerings.

In Partanen’s assessment, “What is important to understand here is that what Hewlett-Packard Enterprise is doing through the Cloud28+ platform is actually helping us others to enable our partners. So basically, it’s in our interest to make sure that as many services as possible from the Cloud28+ network are presented in our marketplace.”

Ayoub agreed, noting that Cloud28+ allowed acceleration of market accessibility, expansion of consumption opportunities and the ability for customers to become resellers to internal divisions of their respective organizations.

In looking to the future of the organization, Beauchamps explained that requests from partners outside of Europe to join the Cloud28+ alliance had led to the decision to make it a worldwide network, but he cautioned that partners “will find in it what they want to give.”
