Lenovo Miix 720

Microsoft Corp. is likely to face some tough competition from Lenovo Group Ltd. with the launch of the Miix 720 (main image), its new 12-inch Windows 10 tablet.

The Miix 720 comes with a detachable keyboard and a fold-out kickstand, which is adjustable up to 150 degrees. It has a QHD display with 2,880 x 1,920-pixel resolution and an infrared camera so you can sign in with Windows Hello and facial recognition.

Under the hood, the top-of-the-range Miix 720 comes with a seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of memory, a 1TB PCIe SSD for storage and integrated Intel HD Graphics 620.

It also works with Lenovo’s new Active Pen 2, which has 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, compared to the Surface Pen’s 1,024 pressure levels.

The Miix 720 has a starting price of $999, but unlike the Surface Pro 4, the keyboard is included in the price. The Active Pen 2 will be a separate item and will cost $60. The Miix 720 is only due to arrive at the beginning of April while the Active Pen 2 will be available in February.

Despite rumors to the contrary, Microsoft didn’t unveil its new Surface Pro 5 in October and is now rumored for spring 2017, which could possibly be around the same release date of the Miix 720.
