iPad is Global Workforce’s Favorite Tablet

Checking email and social networks before getting dressed or even having a breakfast have been a daily ritual. Guilty of the same morning habit? These simple things actually made the word phenomenal an understatement when describing iPad’s success worldwide. Over 75% of all workers around the globe own either an iPad or an iPad 2. This is a clear indication that we are now marching towards the tablet era, or should we say iPad era.

Today, employees already found a way to kill personal downtime by checking their smartphones 6-12 times a day, according to an iPass.com study. Another report has pointed out five business applications for smartphones and tablets: note-taking applications, contract or contract management, office suites, social media for work and web conferencing.

The unparalleled global acceptance of iPad has lured the eyes of collaborators who want to ride with chariot of the victor and challenges who tagged themselves as iPad-killers. Those looking at the iPad as a great opportunity to expand their market and introduce innovations include big names like Oracle, Opera and again Citrix.

Oracle’s latest business intelligence software aims to support both iPad and iPhone. There are also business apps that were recently launched for the iPad, like Omni Invoice, GooodReader, Bento, e-Task, DropBox and Office² HD. On the other end of the device boxing ring are wanna-be’s such as Amazon’s Kindle, Motorola Xoom and Acer Inc.’s Iconia Tab A500.

The current mobile trend has been widely discussed in prestigious platforms such as the Citrix Synergy and SAP’s Sapphire, being core to the event’s themes and timeline for future products. Aside from cloud computing, the Citrix event will give emphasis to mobility and mobile killer apps.

From the outside, it may look as if the mobile space is already too crowded for new competition, especially with tons of updates and upgrades happening every single day. But the truth is, this marketplace is immeasurably enormous and will even be bigger with humanity embracing it wholly. And as for iPad, one things is certain—Apple is a proud mama.
