A Hadoop Treasure Chest of All You Can Eat Big Data Goodness Courtesy of theCube

I am flying back from New York after spending two days at HadoopWorld. On the theCube, we did two days of video coverage, interviewing leaders in the community and discussing the event’s hot topics.

Wikibon analyst Jeff Kelly took the time to curate the interviews we did. It’s a treasure trove of information.

It includes:

  • A fascinating discussion with Cloudera’s Jeff Hammerbacher, who is considered one of the top leaders in the emerging world of data science.
  • David Abadi, co-founder and chief scientist at Hadapt, who discusses the importance of data to society.
  • Barton George of Dell came on theCube to discuss how Dell views the importance of Hadoop in its strategy.
  • Why Facebook chose HBase to support Facebook Messenger.
  • How Nokia is using Hadoop to support location-based analytics.
  • The Bit.ly way for using Hadoop to make sense of a “torrent” of data.
  • How Batter Ventures sees the formation of big data market accelerating rapidly.

That’s a sampling of the interviews we did at Hadoop World. They all show how Hadoop is changing the way we work and live. Hadoop is instrumental in how our society will transform in an increasingly connected world.

Here’s the interview with Hammerbacher. Listen to how he compares athletes to data scientists. Great stuff.
