More Cash for Cloud Compliance: ServiceMesh Nabs $15 Million

Cloud compliance vendor ServiceMesh closed a new $15 million round of funding from Ignition Partners. Here’s ServicesAngle editor Alex William’s description of the company from last month:

ServiceMesh is a self-funded startup that has a monitoring platform for measuring and monitoring a hybrid infrastructure. The company was founded in 2008 and now has 100 employees. Today the company is announcing the availability of Agility Platform version 7.3, a Services Level Agreement (SLA) management platform for reporting, and security in enterprise hybrid cloud environments.

The new version of the Agility platform manages external workloads for groups across an organization. Managers may monitor apps, build custom reports for SaaS applications, Hadoop clusters or business critical applications.

Here at ServicesAngle we think compliance and data governance is a huge market opportunity. As more companies begin to use a more diverse mix of external Web services and on-premise applications, making sure all tools and data are compliant with all applicable laws becomes more and more difficult – to say nothing of the SLA agreements companies have with their vendors. It might not be the most glamorous sounding segment, but it’s certainly a useful, and therefore profitable, one.

Enstratus raised $3.5 million this month and is growing and looking like an acquisition target. Digital Fuel was acquired by VMware and turned into VMware IT Business Management Suite this year. A number of other companies are addressing aspects of this market, such as Apptio and Cloudability.
