Gaping Void on Steve Jobs – Here’s to the Crazy Ones

I just received an email from Gaping Void. Every day, cartoonist Hugh MacLeod does one of his iconic drawings that often points to the humor, absurdity and reality of our lives. Today he gives tribute to Steve Jobs. Go to his site to see the cartoon.

The drawing pays homage to Jobs’ and what he said in the famous “Think Different” TV ads.

The ad spoke to MacLeod like one never had before. He knew then that he wasn’t just of the crazy ones. More so, it was imperative to be one of the crazy ones. That his life and soul depended on it.

The crazy ones change the world. In Hugh’s own words:

It’s not what Steve Jobs created in his his brief but incandescent life- the computers, iPods, iPhones etc etc- that isn’t the big story.

And what we created with his his products, that isn’t the big story, either.

The big story is what Steve helped us believe about ourselves. By putting his balls on the line, again and again, he made it easier for us to do the same.

And so we did.

Thank you, Steve. You will be missed. Of course you frickin’ will…

Services Angle

It’s a day to really think about who we are and the significance of the people in our lives. The crazy ones in our world are outspoken. They do make people mad. They challenge the status quo. Why? They are so damn good that they provoke opinion across the entire spectrum. They force change.

So, here’s to the crazy ones. We need you more than ever.
