Steve Phillips Is Very Sorry #MLB

Good hair, better goatee.

Former ESPN baseball analyst and Mets GM Steve Phillips sat down with Matt Lauer yesterday on the Today set and talked about his sex addiction.

Of course he did.

Do something immoral, indecent, and wrong; go to “rehab”, apologize on TV, and then wait for the next job offer. I am sure that a certain redshirted golfer with a similar ‘addiciton’ was paying close attention.

In Philips' defense, his silver hair was perfectly manicured and combed, his alarmingly detailed goatee looked great on camera and he did nearly make himself cry a couple of different times to bring home how sincere he was. He should have ripped out a couple of nose hairs before going on-air in an attempt to get the tears flowing. Fill up the breast pocket on his suit with onions and jalapenos to make sure the water works flowed.

Higher draft pick than Brooke.

It was a complete farce. Granted, I am not a sex addict therapist, but wouldn’t staying home and working on your own family be a higher priority than going on one of the more popular shows in the country and digging the whole thing up again. Another round of photos of “mistress’ Brooke Hundley (Todd Hundley is hotter), and in the process making the entire ordeal public again?

At least it was worth it.

Instead of apologizing publicly for his sex addiction, he should apologize to all of us for sporting that haircut and goatee. That was the real crime. I can’t figure out which one bothers me more, the public apology that really isn’t an apology, or hiding like TW and saying nothing.

Since neither of those options are all that good, maybe you just don’t sex the production assistant or the pancake waitress. That might be the best choice of all.
