Commanders In Suds #olympics

Just a couple of regular guys.

President Barack Obama owes Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper a case of Molson beer after Team Canada beat the Americans in the gold medal game yesterday in Vancouver.

Good one fellas. Way to come up with something original. I am impressed that you guys were so into the game that you ponied up some beer on the outcome. How ‘regular guy’ of you.

The beer summit that President Obama put together was one thing; this is, well, this is stupid. Enough of these ridiculous wagers between heads of state, or governors, or mayors, or whoever the leader happens to be. It’s not interesting, it doesn’t make you one of us. It’s pandering, it’s lame, and no one thinks it is anything other than that. Regular Joes in the US and regular Gords in Canada aren’t sitting at home thinking, “You know what, that Obama and that Harper, they’re just like us! They like to bet beers too!”

Canadian Gold

If you are going to bet, make it interesting, make it compelling. Bet something that you can’t afford to lose. A submarine, the nuclear football, jobs. So one flunky from the White House sends a case of beer to another flunky at the Canadian White House? The Ice House? Whatever, you get the idea.

Find something better to do fellas. Both of you.
