The new cast of Dancing With The Stars has been announced, and as usual, there are athletes involved.
Bengals' wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, Olympic gold medalist, Evan Lysacek will be representing the athletes, while Pamela Anderson, Buzz Aldrin (huh?), reality TV loser Kate Gosselin, former TV actress Shannen Doherty, Neicy Nash from Reno 911, ESPN reporter Erin Andrews and some other people I don’t care about.
Ochocinco. Not sure if I love this idea or completely hate it. Ochocinco is usually much more entertaining when he is doing football related and football themed stunts. His interviews and the like are painfully boring and humorless. He will either steal the show or will be a complete stiff, there is no possible middle ground. One thing you can book, he will try like hell to be the center of attention. It’s just a matter of whether or not he can pull it off without being an impossible a-hole in the process.
I have no idea what Buzz Aldrin is doing there. Same goes for Pamela Anderson. It isn’t the 1960’s or the 1980’s, both of them are relics from another era.
Erin Andrews is interesting. Good looking, good at her job, and a former member of some dance team at Florida. Who knows if she plays it safe like she does at ESPN, or she gets after it. One thing for sure, I am sure none of the greasy college basketball coaches she covers will make any suggestive remarks about it. That won’t happen. They can barely control themselves as it is, this sure as hell isn’t going to help.
Lastly, can someone please tell Kate Gosselin that no one cares. Really, they don’t. And if you do, you’re a loser. Sorry, it’s true.
Buzz should win for being Buzz. At the age of 71 he decked a Moon 'hoaxer' nut.
I got beat to the punch (no pun intended) by the NiceFishFilms post. Anyone who can kick ass at 71 has got my support to win. Buzz Aldrin is from another generation when test pilots sat on engines loaded with highly flammable liquids and tried to control the uncontrollable. Honestly, he might not go far in the DWTS competition, but if that big boobied Cloris Leachman stayed on as long as she did, why not one of America's genuine heroes.
With regards to your Erin Andrews comment, no doubt she is a piece of eye candy, but surely ye jest with her reporting ability. It is painful to listen to her give sideline reports and she always seems to come off as unintelligent, especially when she has her staid "coach, coach, how do you adjust in the second half?" question. She always asks the predictable questions and she adds no real insight to the viewer when she's on. Erin Andrews is the primary example as to why the 'mute' button was invented. Maybe she'll wow the DWTS crowds with her body and moves, but as for sports fans, the body and moves get old after a while.
Simply put, she's no Michelle Tafoya, that's for damn sure.
Hey Travis, you know some folks in TV, so here is my pitch. It's a perfect time to exploit the current craze before the Olypmic Afterglow wears off. I give you... Curling With the Stars.
I would agree with guys on Buzz, but he loses points based on his tragic facelift. Tough to take a dude seriously when his five-o-clock shadow starts at his eyebrows. Plus, everyone knows that moon landing was shot in a warehouse in Reseda.
Thank you, Carl Everett.
Wayne-O, I agree with your assessment of EA's sideline questions, but I'd ask you this? What is she supposed to ask? The job of a sideline reporter is stupid to begin with. No information comes from them, no insight. Myabe you get the occasional meltdown from a coach, but that's it. the job is inherently stupid. that's not EA's fault, or Tafoya's or anyone. It's the job. For that job, as stupid as it is, she does it well.
I agree to the fact that the job of the sideline reporter is "inherently stupid" and wholly unnecessary. But we can continue to respectfully disagree about Erin Andrews' "ability" to do this stupid job.
BTW - When are we getting another podcast? With the passing of the Winter Olympics, a giant 6'8" woman dropping haymakers, and Allen Iverson, you should have a plethora of material to rant on.
