#CES2010: Nokia N97 Mini VS Nokia 5800 XM

image At first look the little brother n97 mini looks about the same as the first all touch from Nokia. After a second look however, we see that Nokia did try not to duplicate too many things. Yes the screens are the same dimensions but, the mini’s screen is way more sensitive. Is that software or hardware?

The Nokia 5800 is all plastic, everywhere. The n97mini has a metal battery cover and brushed metal trim all around. Funny enough it’s thinner but heavier with it’s slide out keyboard. Most of my mobile gurus loved it’s firm feel and the way it slides/flips up on an angle.

The menus are the same but the home screen are vastly different. I don’t get why the 5800 xPress music doesn’t do more with the album art. At least the mini gives you a thumbnail on the home screen. Having facebook on the home screen is handy but having twitter by default would be killer. The Lil’ n97 has way more space for music too… Weird.

Overall the N97 mini has the 5800 beat when it comes to storage, feel and function but I think it would be a tie if a software update came out for the 5800’s home screen. Have anymore questions about these devices?
