Oracle Making World Records at Oracle OpenWorld 2010

If the Oracle OpenWorld 2010 didn’t have enough fireworks for you yet, here are two world records for the event to hype up the party. The first world record pertains to being environment friendly. Oracle OpenWorld 2010, with 41,000 attendees is the biggest green event happening. As reported,

The conference should make green aficionados happy, as Oracle claims it is the largest sustainable event, with a 76 percent reduction in paper used over last year’s event. There also will be 800,000 gallons of water saved and 140 tons of waste diverted from landfills, and 60 percent of all the food to be consumed at the event is organic and from local growers, Sim said.

Secondly, Oracle have achieved a new server world record. They claim to have processed the most number of operations in a second. Details are reported as follows;

Oracle Weblogic Server 11g with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 achieved 20,092.36 operations per second, using the SPECjAppServer2004 industry standard. The record was achieved running Oracle Linux on a HP Proliant DL980 G7 server.
