HipLogic Steals MySpace Executive to the Mobile Side

Mobile app maker HipLogic has added two new executives to its lineup–Jason Ling and Stephanie Jorgl are the VP of Product Development and Head of Marketing respectively.  Coming from MySpace, Jason Ling is one of the latest deserters of the still-massive social network, heading to a new position with a fresh take on the social mobile scene.

“Jason and Stephanie are great additions to the HipLogic team given their past experience helping companies succeed in mobile,” said Mark Anderson, CEO, HipLogic.  It’s that focus on mobile that Ling brings from MySpace, where he oversaw mobile products and technology.  The experience here is extensive, as the mobile front was a big focal point for MySpace’s growth, in the U.S. and internationally. Prior to MySpace, Ling worked for Disney and Infospace.

Jorgl brings an array of corporate experiences to the table as well, with over 10 years of online marketing strategies for entertainment and mobile companies, including Apple, Opera, Napster and Sony.  HipLogic’s unique approach to redefining the mobile experience is well-suited for Jorgl’s new role as the Head of Marketing, as HipLogic takes a mashup approach to its apps for effeciency and design.

HipLogic, which totalled $18.5 million in funding last year by Benchmark Capital and other investors, will be putting Ling and Jorgl to work right away.  The company recently launched *Spark, its nw home screen application for Android devices.  *Spark places a combo of widgets for news, entertainment and social network updates, taking the best of the iPhone’s interface and the best of Android’s multitasking capabilities.
