IBM’s acquired Clarity Systems, adding to its analytics portfolio for business offerings. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Clarity Systems makes financial governance software, enabling organizations to automate the process around collecting, prepping, certifying and controlling financial statements for electronic filing purposes. These all fall in line with the regulations put forth by the SEC and other regulatory agencies within the financial industry.
The benefits around this are the automated processes Clarity Systems provides, reducing errors and making the process overall more manageable. It’s one way in which the finance industry is served through cloud systems, especially from an integration standpoint. From there, Clarity Systems’ software provides tools for finance professionals to plan and consolidate for reporting purposes.
“Smarter decisions thrive on accurate financial information, and it is therefore imperative that financial governance systems reduce risk of error and provide confidence in the external reporting process,” said Rob Ashe, general manager, business analytics, IBM.
“Clarity Systems extends IBM’s business analytics capabilities to the office of finance by enabling organizations to help businesses automate complex governance processes, improve data accuracy and provide the foundation for addressing a wide array of regulatory reporting mandates.”
It’s an area that more virtual environments are building out, with integrated analytics programs to be used for introspective purposes. Clarity Systems is specific to finance, but a number of analytics and reporting features are being incorporated into the automated aspect of cloud management systems.
Along with IBM’s acquisition of OpenPages, Clarity Systems’ integration is complimentary to the many business needs IBM is looking to address.
In other IBM news, the company expanded its Smart Business Development & Test on the IBM Cloud with support for Windows and new enhancements to better serve teams of developers. IBM is also introducing an integrated development and test environment and new software and services to allow developers to improve quality and speed across the application life cycle.
