Amazon Launches Kindle for the Web, Incentivizes Bloggers with Free Chapter Embeds

Kindle for the Web, a new e-reader Amazon specifically launched for their Kindle series, allows you to “read and share book samples without leaving your browser.”

This new application does not require any download or installation. It will enable users to share samples with friends via email or social networks. Also, it will earn publishers extra income by embedding a book sample in your personal blog or website, through Amazon’s affiliate system.

Amazon is really looking to expand the horizons of Kindle’s reach, essentially digitizing the whole of its Kindle device experience.  Amazon’s been quick to launch apps around the Kindle, with early versions for the iPhone and iPad.  Later came the Android app, which was recently updated along with the iOS versions.  Staying on this road of persistance, Amazon has already announced its plans for a Kindle app on RIM’s upcoming PowerBook tablet.

The move indicates Amazon’s desire to provide remote access to its content, regardless of one’s device.  As mobile browsers on tablets and smartphones improve, we’ll also see more activity around the convergence of mobile web browsing and apps, in an effort to consistently enable a seamless and device-agnostic experience for consumers.  The affiliate incentives is also a notable aspect of today’s announcement, highlighting Amazon’s ability to scale its extensive network to consumers for revenue-generation.
