EMC Strategy for Information Infrastructure: Momentum Europe 2010

During the Momentum Europe 2010 event, key figures at EMC presented the solutions the company provides for the emerging technologies in cloud computing, application services and fresh user interaction interfaces in the business domain.

The presentations focused on the multiple advantages of using new information management methods, and how they can meet the businesses’ demands and needs. Along friendly and easy manageable interfaces, the cloud computing technologies offer also a high level of security.

Jeetu Pantel, the chief technology officer at EMC, highlighted the interest for developing integrated solution, which can provide unified content-enables applications, in order to be used highly efficiently and safely.

Mark Lewis, chief strategy officer at EMC, commented: “The world is moving to the cloud, embracing the mobile Internet and generating social content at a breakneck pace. In order to adapt to these changes, IT departments will need to materially transform themselves to accommodate choice computing and to support governance on-premise and in the cloud. This will require IT to embrace and leverage new technologies and focus on enabling strategic business capabilities to drive transformation.”

Recently, EMC announced the introduction of two new IT certifications available through the EMC Education Services website: virtualization cloud computing and training. The motivation behind this step of the virtual structure hardware and software provider is the need for keeping the pace with the evolving IT technologies.  Cloud computing is seen as a major trigger in terms of enterprise architecture and consumer of IT services.

After the revenue figures for the third quarter were announced at the beginning of December, EMC reported a 19% average increase of sales, which is being translated into an overall of $5.2 billion. Therefore, EMC became the leading company within the external storage system. From the same report other conclusions can be submitted: the second place for EMC within the standings for total storage systems.
