Wattpad Sees Record Growth in Traffic, Apps Use

eReading community and network Wattpad has big hopes for the month of Jan after record numbers and growth in December. The company reports 20% growth in traffic compared to November and 300% growth compared to the previous year, as well as tremendous growth in mobile usage and traffic.

“The Android app saw the largest percentage of growth, with four times the usage in December as compared to the month before, furthering its gain over the BlackBerry. December also saw an increase overall in minutes spent on the site to 338 Million minutes a month.

The iPhone, iPod and iPad app remains the largest driver of mobile traffic of all devices, accounting for as much traffic as the web.”

On top of mobile and traffic statistics, Wattpad’s authors also saw a rise in demand. Reportedly, a great deal of novels surpassed the 1 and 4 million reads marks, including “A Proscriptive Relationship” with a total of 4.85 Million reads.

Wattpad’s final quarter growth will be released in the company’s upcoming 2010 Q4 Metrics report, which may just reveal the much expected growth surge the company has been looking for since its foundation in 2006. The mobile reading network was launched before the dawn of eReaders and martphones as we know it, and as mobile reading accelerates, Wattpad will continue to gain in relevance. At its current pace, the network’s expectations for January might just be realized.
