Citrix Makes Strategic Investment in GlassHouse Technologies
GlassHouse Technologies has received a strategic investment from virtualization solutions provider Citrix Systems. The sum of the investment was not disclosed, but Citrix became “…a premier desktop virtualization partner of GlassHouse Technologies” afterwards.
“Citrix is leading the transformation of the data center into a virtualized and flexible environment. By investing in companies such as GlassHouse, which offers experienced consultants and proprietary intellectual property, we are helping to drive greater IT efficiencies for our mutual customers so they may more fully realize the business benefits of virtual computing,” said Andy Cohen, senior director of strategic development at Citrix.”
In exchange for the investment Citrix also received an observer’s seat on the GlassHouse board of directors.
In other Citrix news we have the company’s acquisition of Netviewer AG, a privately held European Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) vendor. The company announced a definitive agreement to acquire the SaaS vendor in order to boost Citrix Online’s expansion in Europe. We also covered Citrix’s 15 years’ anniversary since its IPO when it launched its Citrix Startup Accelerator program, and the preview of the new introduction of the introduction of the Citrix Receiver – and Windows business applications – to Chrome Notebooks.
