Dubbed one of the “100 essential websites …” by The Guardian, and one of NYT technology editor David F. Gallagher’s sites, Techmeme will now use noteworthy tweets of various sorts as full headlines of their own, but mostly as points of ‘Discussion.’

The first type of tweets will be used for the headlines and will be occasionally displayed alongside the rest of the content on the site. The second type, the smaller headlines collapsed on Techmeme or Discussions will show up on Techmeme as well. Techmeme’s Gabe Rivera noted 200 inquiries about whether or not there will be a Techmeme made up of just tweets, and the answer is still a decisive no.

The tweets will be assorted among the rest of the articles which means the news site will improve as a source for breaking stories and consequent trends and shifts. Instantaneous publishing is synonymous with Twitter, and so is with a good news source.

Twitter has its benefits, especially for the established TechMeme, but in a fresh news break SiliconANGLE reveals the social networking site is actually being sued. VS Technologies is suing Twitter for the infringement of US patent no. 6,408,309: “[a] Method and system for creating an interactive virtual community of famous people”.
