Scoreloop Launches GoAndroid for Mobile Game Developers

Go Android is the offspring of Scoreloop that was conceived in January this year, and revealed today with the aim of helping top iOS developers bring their hit games to Android, despite operational, legal and financial barriers that interfere on porting games from one platform to another. The program is a partnership actually, featuring Scoreloop on one side and Geared and Toobs on the other side. The latter have been collectively downloaded over 20 million times on iOS.

“It’s been terrific having Scoreloop take care of everything,” said Bryan Mitchell, creator of Geared. “Getting support through porting, testing and launch can make a major difference. In such a competitive market, the added extra that social features brings to a game can make a real difference to the level of success, and Scoreloop has been there to help add that to Geared.”

The results for the Android platform will use Scoreloop’s expertise and status as the largest social mobile gaming platform for Android devices to provide current and prospective players with a wider array of social games.

“We launched the ‘Go Android’ Program earlier this year to help developers who don’t have the time to deal with the development, legal, admin and market experience necessary to launch on a new platform,” said Marc Gumpinger, CEO of Scoreloop. “We’re providing real value for developers, not just funds. Navigating the Android ecosystem isn’t a simple task and we want to be there for developers through the whole process. We’re thrilled to launch this program along with Geared and Toobz, two top iOS games, that will soon be accompanied by many more.”

The Android platform is attracting more and more activity from game developers, especially those with platform aims. Game publisher platform OpenFeint teamed up with The9, the Chinese online Game operator and developer, for the expansion of mobile games already available to iPhone users to the Android, the OpenFeint network, and also to China.  The main objective of the partnership is helping independent developers lacking financial resources and with some of the best games in their portfolio to develop games for other platforms, namely Android.
