MetroPCS Rolls Out 4G LTE in Tampa, Florida Completing their Metropolitan Coverage

metro-pcs-expands-to-tampa-florida In a brave new world bombarded with commercials about 4G-speed enabled smartphones, the emergence of a new LTE network may seem passé—but the construction of these networks is still underway and every development counts. With their expansion into the Tampa metropolitan area, MetroPCS 4G LTE coverage is available in all MetroPCS’s metropolitan areas, including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Sacramento, and San Francisco.

“As we have built-out our 4G LTE service across the nation we continue to be dedicated to making our customers’ lives easier by providing them with feature-rich smartphones that let them do more on our network,” said Roger D. Linquist, president, CEO and chairman of MetroPCS in their most recent press release. “The Samsung Galaxy Indulge offers the total package, allowing consumers to manage every aspect of their lives from their mobile phone, using the latest Android technology and our MetroPCS 4G LTE service.”

By getting their LTE horses out of the gate in 2009, faster than both AT&T and Verizon, MetroPCS managed to solidify several networks in metropolitan areas before their competitors managed to take the field. MetroPCS started with Las Vegas, which seems to be a favorite for emerging 4G LTE networks as AT&T kicked off their first network there earlier this month.

Alongside their expansion into Tampa, Florida, MetroPCS is touting the release of their newest 4G-enabled smartphone: the Samsung Indulge. They are becoming well known for releasing new handsets alongside big developments in their networks as the Samsung Craft—lauded as the first commercially available 4G capable smartphone. The Samsung Indulge is an Android smartphone with a lot of frills.

Running at a $399 price-point, it might be a little expensive, but the press release touts a $100 mail-in rebate. It will be loaded with the latest Android 2.2 OS and MetroPCS wants people to know that their 4G network will be excellent for streaming video—nice to know after hearing Samsung announce Hulu’s Android arrival. With a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and 3.5” screen, the Indulge will be a powerful social networking smartphone.

MetroPCS may not be part of the catfight about who has the largest and most advanced 4G network (we can leave that to T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless to duke it out) they have managed to continue to provide a strong show in progressive technology
