Ever wonder if a package that you have received in the mail had been tampered with? How do you know if the package has not been opened or dropped? Double Defense can determine if your box has been meddled with. It is said to be 100% accurate, easy, cheap, and the best part is that it is a simple sticker.
This high tech sticker knows exactly what your package has gone through during its journey. It relies on optic technology and it’s impossible to forge.
The team behind the technology believes that Double Defense will be the one and only cargo security solution in the near future. The company was initiated by a group of 2 Masters students of Saint-Petersburg State University, a Physics PhD Student from Moscow State University and a logistic specialist. They have been testing out their product with independent logistics operators and insurance companies.
It aims at first selling their stickers and sensors to freight companies as it enhances a competitive position because this sticker decreases the shipment checking and increase the process efficiency. The end users would then be provided with a guarantee that their product being mailed is delivered in un-tampered packages. The stickers would be sold in conjunction with the sensor that reads the sticker’s output information.
According to Double Defence, all other existing products that claims that they detect tampering are either very expensive, but accurate in detection, or rather cheap, but unreliable. The Double Defense sticker’s price is a mere 6 cents to produce. Double Defense plans to sell stickers at 25 cents a piece. The gross profit margin is estimated to be 400%.
In 2011, Double Defense Company will launch the product in the low-cost Russian market in order to test the product and polish the concept and marketing mix. The team is eager to participate in the Startup Sauna program in hopes to establish better relations and connections in other countries such as the US. They hope to introduce the Double Defense sticker to American markets in 2012.
Double Defense is the winner of Startup Sauna Warmup in St-Petersburg. The team will participate in the intensive program in May. They were chosen out 40 other applications. The Startup Sauna has been travelling around the Baltics to find the best startups to participate in their seed accelerator. The event has also been recorded, so you can see the other Russian teams pitches at the Startup Sauna.
