The founders of YouTube, Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, have started a new company named Avos which is already expanding rapidly via acquisitions. An Associate Press release today announces that Avos has acquired Tap11.com, a company that makes software to help businesses keep track of what’s being said about them on Facebook and Twitter. Two weeks ago, they acquired Delicious, a social bookmarking service, from Yahoo Inc.
Mr. Hurley says the goal is to “create the world’s best platform for users to save, share, and discover new content. With the acquisition of Tap11, we will be able to provide consumer and enterprise users with powerful tools to publish and analyze their links’ impact in real-time.”
Messrs. Hurley and Chen started YouTube in 2005. They sold it to Google Inc. for $1.76 billion in 2006. The deal for Tap11.com has been announced today. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
