Continuing its cloud acquisition streak, CA Technologies announced the acquisition of privately-held SaaS-based monitoring for the cloud WatchMouse B.V.
Within the last couple of years, IT management software and solutions company CA Technologies have been focusing on its cloud strategy and made a string of acquisitions reaching over a $1 billion. The WatchMouse purchase would complement CA’s integrated application performance monitoring suite. The terms of this latest acquisition were not disclosed.
Based in the Netherlands, WatchMouse is a leading innovator in website and application performance monitoring. The WatchMouse service is based on 62 worldwide remote monitoring stations in more than 40 countries. WatchMouse performs periodic checks by replicating real-time user experience and provides transaction monitoring scripts to identify possible issues.
With WatchMouse’s technology, it is intended to help boost CA’s integrated services by incorporating a tool which effectively monitor the performance of the cloud, mobile and web applications. It also brings to customers of CA Technologies Service Assurance and Nimsoft the ability to proactively manage end-user experience, identify and resolve application performance issues quickly and ensure cloud vendors hold up their SLAs.
“As companies extend more applications to their customers through the Web and smartphones, the performance of those applications is having a greater impact on revenue, customer loyalty and brand value,” said David Dobson, executive vice president, CA Technologies.
“By adding WatchMouse to our industry-leading portfolio of solutions for managing and monitoring IT, we are enabling these companies to better safeguard the performance of these customer-facing applications—so they can better safeguard the performance of their business.”
The WatchMouse solutions will be delivered as an SaaS. It can easily be deployed and available as purely on a subscription basis with no up-front fees and no long-term commitments.

WatchMouse services would definitely enhance CA’s Application Performance Management (APM) solution, by giving its large enterprise customers new ways to effectively manage the cloud and applications within a single solution set. WatchMouse also complements with Nimsofts’s IT Management-as-a-software strategy by allowing customers to quickly monitor response times of its applications. With CA’s enhanced integrated services, puts them in the ranks of application monitoring market with competitors like Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Compuware.
