ServiceMesh the Latest to Support OpenStack
Enterprise cloud solutions provider ServiceMesh announced that it has extended its ServiceMesh Agility platform to support OpenStack, the open-source cloud OS initiative first kicked off by Rackspace and NASA, along with several others.
ServiceMesh Agility allows customers to setup OpenStack clouds, as well as well deployments based on other popular offerings by VMware and Amazon Web Services. The platform ties enterprise governance, policy management together on top of the user’s deployment, which can be a full functional hybrid cloud with workloads balanced between on-premise and third party servers.
“We are happy to have enterprise cloud platform providers like ServiceMesh join the OpenStack community to give users more options to deploy and manage their cloud infrastructure,” says Jonathan Bryce, chairman of OpenStack Project Policy Board.
ServiceMesh says it serves a number of Global 2000 companies among others, which means the integration with OpenStack is good news for both sides. The firm will be able to target customers that have adopted the rapidly expanding open OS, while OpenStack gained a notable addition to its partner ecosystem, which already encompasses a very long list of high profile companies.
OpenStack celebrated its first anniversary not that long ago, and managed to reach a very rapid growth rate. Gluster is one of the companies that decided it will jump aboard the bandwagon and gain from the initiative’s momentum.
Shortly after Gluster announced it joined the OpenStack community, the firm released Gluster Connector. The code essentially connects GlusterFS to the OpenStack hypervisor, providing support for vMotion and enabling customers to scale out virtual machines. Users of Gluster Connector can greatly simplify file sharing within the deployment.
OpenStack was also the highlight of OSCON 2011. It has a growing customer base in addition to its partner ecosystem, carving a place for itself amongst leading open source cloud and commercialization trends.
