Networking solutions vendor Juniper Networks announced new additions to its Simply Connected family of products, as well as an update to the JunosPulse Mobile Security Suite. The company is trying to catch up with the mobile worker trend that has been spreading for some time now, following a long list of other vendors and competitors.
“Juniper’s Simply Connected approach to the enterprise embraces two critical concepts: user-centric security and management independent of mobile device brand or type; and the opportunity to re-architect and reduce the network footprint…”
The new offerings joining the Simply Connected line-up include three switching products and a WLAN controller. The EX3300 Ethernet switches equipped with Virtual Chassis fabric tech are designed for large cloud deployments, while the EX2200-C Ethernet switches are meant for use in classrooms, conference rooms and other smaller scale deployments. The EX6200 switches will only be available in the fourth quarter, and can be stacked up together to form a single, ‘space-optimized’ unit.
Lastly, the fourth addition is the WLC880 Wireless LAN controller, which supports up to 256 access points, in addition to software by Juniper; and also includes other features. It will start shipping sometime in October.
In addition to this portfolio upgrade, the networking company also updated its mobile device management product. The Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite now features more security options, including the ability to set passcode policies, remove profiles from a network, monitor app access as well as device tracking, and remote locking and wiping capabilities. On top of that, an API has been made available so that companies will be able to integrate the app with external components.
Juniper is looking into security in other areas as well. Chris Hoff, Chief Security Architect for the company, discussed his take on security and virtualization in theCube earlier this month.
