Social To-Do App Backed by Eric Schmidt Fund

If you know Taskos, then you probably know Any.Do, the team behind Taskos’ development and success. The team recently revealed yet another To Do app that lets your create, organize and share tasks with your friends, regardless of whether or not the people you’re sharing it with has the app. It’s available for free from the Android Market.

The app also features the following capabilities:

• Talk to the device to capture ideas on the go
• Invite friends, family or colleagues to do stuff together
• Get notifications when someone updates a shared task
• Drag & drop to sort tasks by date, folder or priorities
• Swipe tasks to mark as complete
• Shake the phone to remove the completed tasks
• Sync your tasks with your Google tasks / Google apps
• Simple backup of your tasks on your SD card

Any.Do’s development is made possible through the investment of Eric Schimdt’s Innovations Endeavours, Genesis Partners, Blumberg Capital, Joe Lonsdale (Palantir), Aydin Senkut (Felicis Ventures) and Brian Koo. Elad Gil, Director of Corporate Strategy at Twitter and Eric Tseng, head of mobile products at Facebook, are advisors.

“The social revolution changed the way we communicate, the mobile era changed the way we manage our lives,” said Omer Perchik, Any.DO CEO. “With a social core and a beautiful mobile interface, Any.DO combines social and mobile to change the way people get things done, together.”

“Everyone has a To Do list, whether it’s in their head, on sticky notes or in a notepad. Now you just talk to your phone and it’s there for you to prioritize, complete or make someone else’s problem. Most people’s lists have tasks for others, or at least shared tasks. With Any.DO, you can easily share your grocery list with your spouse, organize a social event or collaborate on a work project. It’s like a To Do list that is shared with the right people.”

The new app’s predecessor, Taskos, launched less than a year ago without much marketing. Still, it has managed to attracts over 1.3 million users doing nearly 200,000 tasks per day. Taskos users will be urged to switch to the new app.

The social scene

One of the most useful features of Any.Do is the social collaboration capabilities, but almost every mobile app gets better if embedded with a social twist. China’s leading location-based social mobile app Jiepang recently teamed with Starbucks and its 200 outlets in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang for Check-in rewards this Christmas.

Google’s also putting a heavy focus on mobile social netwoks these days. They look forward to social locations (SoLo) offering and acquires Katango as an initial step. Katango boasts a set of algorithms that will improve interactions in mobile social media. The conditions of the acquisition were not revealed, though Katango has previously raised $2 million from a round led by Kleiner Caufield and Byers.
