SAP is very ambitious to reach its target revenue goal by 2015, which is why it has been expanding and making quite a lot of investments lately. The company is now increasing its presence in the European IT consultancy sector with plans to hire 300 to 400 workers in Romania by 2014, according to SAP EMEA chief Franck Cohen.
Frank Cohen… was quoted as saying by state news agency Agerpres that “so far we can talk about a sum of 30-40 million euros for the next three to four years.
Local media reported last week that SAP, which has around 100 employees in Romania, would announce a major investment in the country.”
This statement follows the announcement of a $2 billion plan to expand SAP in China and hire 2,000 new employees in the next 3 years.
The business software maker is expanding not only its physical presence in the market but also its reach, specifically in the five trends that are consumerization of IT. Constellation Research analyst Ray Wang cited mobile, social, cloud, analytics and unified communications.
Thanks to a long list of recent initiatives, including the development of an enterprise app store, SAP is going strong in just about every one of these areas, expect social. Wang thinks the company hopes this won’t last for long though, and expects SAP to acquire a social media firm within the next few weeks.
It is believed Jive will be one of the likely targets for the buyout, mostly due to the efforts the social enterprise software maker is making to get its hands on some fresh capital – either via an IPO or acquisition.
While SAP is busy expanding, one of its former partners has filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Wellogix claims SAP stole trade secrets and even lucrative projects from it while the partnership was active.
