Evolution of Cloud Adoption through 2015 [Infographic]

Sure, cloud computing may be a marketing construct that allows companies to avoid the certain disaster that would result if sales teams were forced to explain virtualization and dynamic capacity allocation to every potential customer. Yes, Larry Ellison, deep down we agree with your hatred of the term, “cloud computing”. However, even if you have disdain for the term, it is impossible to deny the impact of the cloud on the enterprise.

A new infographic from software and services provider Axway illustrates that impact and makes a few predictions about how cloud adoption will evolve in the next three years. There is lots of information in the infographic’s limited real estate, but the majority supports a single theme – the cloud is transitioning from an emerging technology to core enterprise technology and the enterprise is increasingly holding cloud vendors to the same standards that are common for other technology solutions.

The infographic shows that over the last three years, barriers to cloud adoption are diminishing.

However, it is being replaced by demands for independent security testing and industry service level agreement standards over the next two years. In addition, axway’s data visualization shows that enterprise IT adoption of the cloud will continue to grow, heavily driven by the increasing demand placed on IT infrastructure to quickly support mobile devices. Ultimately, the infographic suggests that by 2015, the use of cloud-based computing models will be almost equivalent to traditional licensing agreements.
