Teradaci, the company that developed the PC-over-IP (PCoIP), has introduced the Teradaci RemoteDesktop Services Host (RDSH) solution, which gives PCoIP capabilities to Microsoft Windows Server RDS environments. Now, IT managers who use both VMware View and RDS desktop environments are able to have more consistent performance, security and user experience across both desktops.

“Until today VMware View customers and service providers looking to combine full-featured VDI-based virtual desktops with Microsoft RDS to provide basic desktop virtualization services have had no choice but to run multiple separately managed desktop virtualization solutions with multiple remote display protocols,” said Simon Bramfitt, research analyst at Entelechy Associates.

Now customers won’t have to spend as much money to run both desktops.

According to Chris Wolf, VP researcher of Gartner, server-based computing solutions have been growing in popularity along with virtual desktop initiatives.

“Server-based computing and virtual desktops offer the flexibility users often require to access applications and data from a variety of locations and devices, as well as improve business agility and reduce OPEX,” Wolf said.

HP will be offering the new Teradaci product as well as the Microsoft RDSH deployments with the PCoIP protocol, which will broaden the range of products HP has to offer to cloud customers, which includes: traditional desktops, All-In-One, Mobile, and Power-Over-Ethernet Thin Clients. With such a wide range of products, clients are able to find what best meets their needs and also reduce the amount of spending, according to Jeff Groudan, director, thin clients of HP.

Hopefully the new products will also help increase HP’s revenue since the company recently took a multi-billion dollar hit.
