What Day Can You Expect the Grim Reaper to Show Up? Big Data Knows
It appears we can all have a chance to put out the Welcome mats and prepare for the Grim Reaper’s visit because we will know exactly when he will come knocking on our doors. Archimeds Model, a San Francisco-based healthcare company has found a way to use Big Data in order to predict how long a person is expected to live.
Big Data is a huge factor in the medical world because doctors need it in order to organize a large amount of information and analyze data to make their predictions about mortality.
Archimeds sought out help from Univa in order to access and organize the Big Data needed for this project. Univa is a software that attaches multiple computers together in order to compress all of the Big Data together in a way so that it all makes sense. And this is not Univa’s first rodeo, either. They have been helping clients with projects such as helping researchers map the human genome to aerospace providers using Big Data to make planes and cars.
You don’t have to be on your deathbed in order for Big Data to be useful for you. According to recent studies, Big Data has also been helpful in finding links to different medical conditions and will also tell you how common the associations are. Big Data has even assisted doctors in taking 30 second x-rays of the body to help with autopsies.
Technology has made its way to the obituaries as well, so now you can inform someone of a loved one’s death and have an outlet to openly discuss death with others through Memorial. And not only can you read about deaths, you can create your own obituary. Memorial asks a series of questions and based on the answers given, the app will create a beautifully written obituary that you can send out to loved ones to inform them of a passing.
