Savvis is launching its new Enterprise Cloud Ecosystem Program today, which provides third party vendors with the tools they need to integrate their solutions with the company’s own line-up.
Savvis is a cloud infrastructure service provider that offers a lot of the standard stuff you might expect, such as consulting, enterprise content management and migration. There are also a few slightly more differentiated offerings, such as proximity hosting, which gives financial firms the option to run their apps in the physical vicinity of major exchanges in order to reduce lag, but this portfolio doesn’t come close to covering it all. That’s why the company needs partners.
Savvis teamed up with cloud automation software maker ScaleXtreme, virtualized DR provider DataGardens and half a dozen other vendors before going public with the program. The service provider is offering partners a free pass to its Symphony private virtual data center for API integration and testing, as well as access to its R&D and product management teams during the development process. Once this stage is over, these resources are replaced by sales and marketing assistance.
“Enterprises seek comprehensive cloud governance and lifecycle management, including the ability to manage both on- and off-premise workloads – important capabilities that technology providers such as BMC Software, ServiceMesh and Rackware provide to our clients as part of the newly launched Savvis Enterprise Cloud Ecosystem Program,” said Jonathan King, vice president of cloud solutions at Savvis.
The firm is looking to bank on its existing presence in the services market by becoming a one-stop-shop: a simpler alternative to doing business with multiple business from the customer’s point of view.
Savvis was a publicly traded company until April last year, when it got bought out by broadband giant CenturyLink for $40 a share – a total of $2.5 billion.
