SnapLogic Raises $20M for Cloud Integration

SnapLogic just disclosed that it has raised $20 million in  Series C funding from Ignition Partners, Frank Artale and Andreessen Horowitz.  This is the company’s biggest round to date, bringing the total amount raised to $32.5 million.

SnapLogic sells the Integrated Platform, an enterprise solution that users can leverage to mix and match different apps, services and data streams in the cloud. The platform features a drag-and-drop panel that includes 150 intelligent connectors dubbed ‘Snaps,’ plus a substantial number of APIs.

The combination of integrated simplicity has made SnapLogic’s service immensely popular among large organizations, including government agencies, retailers, game developers and others.

“SnapLogic sits at the critical junction of two of the biggest trends in technology today: cloud computing and big data,” said Frank Artale, a general partner for Ignition who’s joining the company’s board.  “No enterprise can fully harness big data without a scalable integration platform that combines data from both their cloud and on-premise applications. We’re excited to support SnapLogic in creating a new generation of integration by bringing the scale and flexibility of the cloud together with the power and sophistication of enterprise applications.”

SnapLogic has invested a great deal to maintain its momentum. The company recently aligned itself with Orchestra Networks to add data governance capabilities to its technology, but at the same time other vendors are also starting to recognize the opportunity in cloud integration.

A few months ago IBM rolled out Cast Iron API, an API management service that’s based on the 2010 acquisition of Cast Iron. Big Blue aims to make it easier for developers to create apps for its expert integrated systems, and using APIs is indeed a very viable alternative to coding a specific component from scratch, or using libraries.
