iPhone 5 Ready Apps
The iPhone 5 goes on sale in retails shops today in many countries all over the world. Some may have gotten new accessories to go with their shiny new iDevice, but some are actually more interested in seeing what the new iOS has to offer. And what better way to break in a new iPhone than to download iOS 6-made apps.
You see, while many older apps may still work great with the iOS 6, the iPhone 5’s larger screen can throw things off. Those apps optimized for iOS 6 are ready for the bigger handset, but still work with older iPhones.
So let’s see what app developers have in store for the new iPhone 5 and iOS 6.
Embark, the mobile mass transit app, was quick to update for the iPhone 5. Their family of apps deliver some of the most accurate, step-by-step directions tailored to specific metropolitan regions, giving riders the fastest routes to their destinations. Embark’s public transit apps integrate closely with the new Apple Maps, too.
“We believe it should be easy to get around big cities in the age of the smartphone,” said Embark CEO David Hodge. “With our support for iOS 6, iPhone 5, and the new Apple Maps, we’re making sure transit riders always have access to the information that they need to get where they want to go.”
YouTube – Yes, you now have to download an app for YouTube as Apple is clearly cutting all ties with Google. And yes, you can still access YouTube via Safari but you have to download the app in order to run YouTube from within the software. This means that YouTube content is viewed much better when using the app rather than using Safari to access the site.
iDownloader Pro – this app lets you download almost any content you find on the web directly to your iPhone. Though it will set you back $1.99, it still beats having to download a song from iTunes that costs $.99. But I think this app is in the boundaries of piracy if it’s not already there, so be cautious.
TurboScan – for $1.99, you can have a portable scanner and transform multiple documents into PDF files. This is great for business people on the go.
