Cloudera’s Ecosystem Continues to Grow. More Hadoop for the Enterprise

Cloudera’s ecosystem just keeps growing, Syncscort being the latest to join the Cloudera Connect Partner Program.  That includes certification for Cloudera’s  DMExpress software for CDH4 and Cloudera Enterprise, the open-source version of the vendor’s Hadoop distribution.

DMExpress will make it easier for enterprises to connect their Hadoop deployment with existing systems, with a number of benefits.  End users gain direct insight to the data and analytics they need, while also making the data scientist’s job easier by adding the capability to migrate info between the Hadoop file system and any specialized tools they may be using.

“An important part of the value we bring is in uniting, educating and supporting a rich ecosystem of leading Big Data technology vendors, and we are excited to welcome Syncsort to the Cloudera Connect Partner Program,” said Tim Stevens, Cloudera’s vice president of corporate development. “The efficiency and simplicity with which DMExpress can move data in and out of Apache Hadoop is complementary to CDH4, making it easier for enterprises to realize the full potential of Hadoop.”

Cloudera is the largest Hadoop distributor in the market, and its ecosystem has attracted many third party vendors that want to get their big data solutions out there.

A couple months ago Pentaho announced that it’s integrating its Business Analytics data visualization tool with Cloudera Enterprise, the commercial edition of Hadoop. The alliance aimed to accomplish something similar to Syncsort’s more recent update – to simplify the process of integrating big data analytics into existing client environments.

Around the same time, Cloudera entered into a milestone agreement with HP.  The hardware giant obtained rights to resell Cloudera Enterprise and will launch a dedicated appliance towards the end of the year. Hewlett-Packard is becoming more aggressive about its enterprise portfolio now that its consumer business is rapidly losing market share to rivaling PC makers and mobile devices.
