Cisco wants enterprises to run SAP’s in-memory analytics platform on its Unified Computing Systems (UCS), and today it unveiled a new set of incentives to sweeten the pot.
The networking firm is touting a number of advantages to using HANA on UCS, including hardware abstraction and HA. Cisco is targeting early adapters with its all-in-one rack mount solutions, which offer a capacity of up to half a terabyte, and is promoting its B-Series blade servers to clients with larger budgets. The latter can ship with up to 8 terabytes of external storage, either from EMC or NetApp.
This is all part of the standard pitch, which has been extended this morning with the addition of a few extra bonuses. These include SAP IT Process Automation, Cisco’s dedicated admin software that will now ship with extended support for HANA.
In addition, the company and its channel partners have started offering services for users that plan on deploying analytics solutions from the two firms. One distributor, Avnet Technology Solutions, will start selling pre-assembled and pre-configured USC servers integrated with HANA towards the end of this month.
“Our customers are constantly on the lookout for solutions that move the needle, providing the competitive advantage that truly transforms their business. SAP HANA running on Cisco UCS architecture represents the kind of game-changing partner collaboration that can result in such solutions,” said Rayn Veerubhotl, vice president of ecosystem and channels for SAP.
“These solutions deliver real-time analysis and reporting, coupled with dramatically accelerated business processes on an optimized infrastructure platform — a new platform for real-time business.”
The German BI firm is getting more aggressive about HANA. Just a few days ago it unveiled an analytics platform that leverages the in-memory processing technology in conjunction with NetWeaver, another SAP app, to help retailers tailor merchandising at the point of sale.
