New York City Data Week will start on October 22 and will run until the 26th. We’ll see plenty of events during the week, such as the IBM Big Data Developer Day, DataKind DataSprint, Data Innovation Across the City Panel and many more, but the highlight of the week is the O’Reily Strata Conference+Hadoop World, which will kick off on October 23-25, 2012 and will take place at the New York Hilton and Sheraton New York Towers.
This year’s conference aims to explore the changes brought to technology and business by big data, data science, and pervasive computing. Strata has joined forces with Hadoop World to create the largest gathering of the Apache Hadoop community in the world. It hopes to bring together decision makers using the raw power of big data to drive business strategy, and practitioners who collect, analyze, and manipulate that data—particularly in the worlds of finance, media, and government.
The conference will feature keynotes from O’Reilly Media, Inc.’s Program Chair Edd Dumbill, Ben Werther – Founder and CEO of Platfora, Sharmila Shahani-Mulligan – CEO of ClearStory Data, Mike Olson – CEO of Cloudera, James Markarian – CTO & EVP Platform & Corporate Development for Informatica, Annika Jimenez – Senior Director of Analytics Solutions for EMC Greenplum, Rich Hickey – Author of Datomic, Michael Flowers – Analytics Director for NYC Mayor’s Office of Policy and Strategic Planning, and Tim Estes – CEO of Digital Reasoning, and many more.
