Research in Motion is set to officially launch its newest mobile operating system, BlackBerry 10, and two new devices today.

BlackBerry 10 will feature a new user interface that lets users move back and forth between apps without closing them out, and has a new camera feature that lets you dial back to a perfect moment – like the shot where everyone has their eyes open in a group photo.

What’s great about BB10 is that it’s FIPS-certified, meaning it’s fit for government or enterprise use.  BBO10 also earned approval from Visa, so it’s NFC-payment scheme is secured for use.

The two new devices dubbed BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry X10 – one a full touchscreen phone, the other featuring its trademark QWERTY keyboard, will be priced at $149 with a two-year contract or $199 without a contract.

The company also recently announced the change in its app store.  Aside from its name being changed to BlackBerry World, a few things have been added to the online store.

Today, ahead of the launch, Music and Videos have been added to BB World’s categories.  Users can now buy albums, movies and TV series aside from games, apps and themes for their BlackBerry devices.

Developer tools

It’s a fresh opportunity for developers as well, with BB10 offering a new platform for app distribution.  RIM’s rolled out some aggressive initiatives in recent months to lure in mobile developers, giving away cash and other prizes.  Here’s some platforms to help mobile developers port existing apps to BB10, along with other resources for developing apps and finding classes.
